The First Hair Dryer!!
-
The first hair dryer was the vacuum cleaner! Around the turn
of the century, women dried their hair by connecting a hose to the exhaust of
their vacuum cleaners. In early models, the front of a vacuum cleaner sucked air
in, the back blew air out, and the hose could be attached to either end.
In 1920, the first true hair dryer came on the market, but it was extremely large and heavy, and frequently overheated. Since then, thousands of patents have been issued for different hair dryer designs, but most of them only tweak the outside packaging of the hairdryer so that it looks more aesthetically appealing to you. Aside from the addition of some safety features, the inside of a hair dryer hasn't changed too much over the years. Not until 1951 was the first really workable dryer made. The device consisted of a hand-held dryer connected to a pink plastic bonnet fitted over the woman’s head.

Picadilly Fashions at Petunias of Naples!!!
Picadilly Fashions was founded by Jacob Dombrowsky in 1975 in the heart of Toronto’s Fashion District and has grown to become one of the most successful apparel manufacturers in Canada. Innovation, creativity, and attraction to the allure of greater designs, allows our team to create quality comfortable and stylish, yet casual clothing.
As producers of quality women's apparel, we are constantly striving to surpass previous standards set for the design and manufacture of women's wears. We attribute Picadilly Fashions' growth and success over the years to many variables. They include, design, manufacturing method, customer service, and end value passed on to our clientele.
The Picadilly Design Team studies current trends in our Design Studio located in our manufacturing facility. We are constantly searching for new colours, fabrics, shapes, and trends that will revolutionize our upcoming seasons. Our team members use the latest methods of Computer Assisted Design (CAD) technology, coupled with the "old school" method of sketching; the two techniques are combined to create our design prototypes. These designs are suitable for many types of women. They are modern, cosmopolitan with an international flare, upbeat and simply ahead of the times.
Our manufacturing process has witnessed tremendous growth and change over the years. What originally commenced as a humble operation with 15 - 20 employees has grown to a 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility with over 200 employees. All cutting and sewing is done on premises. Picadilly is constantly updating its technology and machinery to meet customer demands.
Our stringent manufacturing procedures are carefully followed by all manufacturing team members, and thus we are able to meet and deliver "on time" large volume demand orders. Furthermore, our meticulously monitored manufacturing procedures allow Picadilly Fashions to pass quality items for fair value to our clientele.
A prominent key to our successful formula is the value for the dollar received by our clientele and our intense customer service. Satisfaction of the customer has been the mandate of Picadilly since our inception. Our sales representatives are always available to support customer inquiries. Their knowledge of the fashion industry, current trends in colour and fabrics, and most importantly of the Picadilly line of clothing they support is exceptional. We have become a global supplier to the woman's apparel industry. Our lines can be found in many countries, including the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and others.
The service offered by our Picadilly Fashions team continues after the clothing has been delivered. At Picadilly, we take pride in looking out for the customer. This level of honest and reliable service will continue to be a cornerstone of our success well into the future.
